I'm looking for a good way to create an 'alert' when a new part number is created to replace an old part number. It happens all the time and there is no communication - it would be nice if NS can somehow alert someone when they look up a part number that a new one has replaced it. (I considered doing an email alert search, but that won't be very helpful).

You could ask them to reference the old part in a new custom field of list/record and items. Then create a workflow that informs whoever when a new record is created and that field is not empty.

it would have to be every time someone went to the old item page, they get a message. might be a little maintenance but i'll look in that that, thanks!
