Why do you want to avoid a GL impact?

Not that I'm aware of. In my experience, for inventory items, the Item Receipt is the point at which the acquisition of goods at a location requires recognition of the value of those goods as an asset of the company. I don't know how you can avoid the impact on your inventory asset GL account(s). My experience is specific to our company's configuration and feature set, so I can't speak comprehensively on the subject.

you could probably create a Custom GL Plug In that reverses the GL Impact but the value would have to go somewhere
