"Check this box if you want this item to default as a special order on sales transactions. When a sales transaction for a special order item is approved, a linked purchase order is automatically generated. Then, the order cannot be fulfilled until the linked purchase order is received. Special order items can be used for custom orders or "just-in-time" inventory. Important: You must identify a preferred vendor and a purchase price on an item record in order for that item to be selected as a special order."
