Also is there anyway to change the "units" field on a work order or is it always in the base units?

Do you have any recommendations? Do I have to make a separate unit of measure?

What are you trying to solve for?

I work in a factory that combines spices to form spice bags. I want the spice bags to be in the same units as the spices which is in spice bags. But an assembly work order for a couple of hundred thousand ounces is unwieldy.

So your goal is BOM level/assembly that's mixing the spices is combining all of the ounces of spices into a "bag" unit.... then you consume that mix in the "bag" unit to bag it into the finished good.... If so, then you need to recreate the non-bagged mix to a UoM with bag as the base.
