Hello all - My Ops team wants to track how long it takes to complete an assembly. Since multiple users come in contact with a work order, ideally we would like to track users and their time to complete each of their processes. Is anyone doing this right now? If you do, what solution are you using to manage this? Thanks!

Do you use Simple Work Orders & Assemblies or WIP/Routings? If the just WO&A you can add an Other Charge for Purchase item to the BOM, the Purchase price of the item can be $0 for just time recording or the actual technician cost if you want to add that value into the built assembly. The units on this item would be in Hours and a standard amount could be added to the BOM (or 0 if you use Advanced BOMs)
Additionally, you could have a time entry suitelet where people could clock in and out and the suitelet would record actual time

Hi @Rich Keller, CSCP - Thanks for your comments. Most of our assemblies are simple work orders. However, I was just watching the video that goes over Manufacturing Routing, which we are not using. This seems great for adding/calculating labor cost but unfortunately the video didn't go over time tracking. I guess I could setup a manufacturing routing for an item and test it. Your suggestion about the suitelet is probably the best way to generate the timestamps and add them to the work order / assembly build so that we can generate performance reports for our assemblers. Thanks again!

Happy to help. If you need a team to help build the Suitelet, please feel free to reach out. WIP/Routings are good for adding standard times, but very clunky for actuals. External MES's help with that, WIP/Routings got extended to the MFG Mobile app in 21.1 also but I have not used it.
