Is there a known method for Serialized item specific costing and WIP manufacturing to be used in conjunction?

Thanks - seems amiss, if manufacturing large items e.g. vehicle type of product that is configurable and thus each one quite different in price, that need to be serialised but also Manufactured with WIP and labour routings...

If you will use Average method and produce only one piec for an item then you would acheive specific costing.

As Paweł says. you want to use Average costing to achive this. the average cost = cost of items on hand / quantity on hand

Cheers Pawel and Peter, I've explored this option, however at times have more than one in stock for a particular item. The Items are configurable within the same item ( editing of the work order via scripting before WO becomes in process) thus average cost isn't suitable. Yes i know the true answer here is that they then should be using different item numbers if such a difference in value, if a new implementation we would - however quite an old instance of Netsuite so not possible.

There are so many use cases in manufacturing that its hard to make one system fit all.
hope you'll find a solution. Cheers!
