Is there a way for Netsuite to account for those leftovers without just maintaining inventory on rods? Because if it keeps the inventory in rods, they end up over buying because sometimes those leftovers are enough to make a new product.

Our company faced the same issue. Out of the box, Netsuite doesn't have that functionality. Our implementation partner was going to propose a solution, but we decided to change how we handle our drops to keep from cluttering our work process up with tracking all the various lengths in the manner they suggested. It's possible someone could come up with an elegant way to control and monitor those disparate lengths, but what we were proposed would have been more hassle than it's worth.
