I just received a notification from one of my clients that Oracle has to them that there is functionality in the Beta REST API that is going away and that we should switch to the SOAP API if we want to continue to use these functions. This sounded like quite a step back to me and I could not find any documentation on this, has anyone else received this notification and can they point me to any articles that state what is going away?

I dont see them taking it away, but I havent been able to add it to a new instance. Maybe "not adding more to the BETA group" is being mistranslated as going away? Do you have the exact language from oracle about this?
t
Hi, REST API is not going away. There is being clarified new beta recruitment process. Beta features are not available on new accounts (not accepting new beta testers) just temporary.
t
Thank you guys for your help I have the client reaching out to them to get clarification
i
Well sounds like we got it straight from the source!

We had enabled REST API months ago and I don't recall having to sign into a beta testing agreement. We saw the notice today and were concerned we didn't follow a required process back then and could lose access now.
t
In the past beta terms were part of the general SuiteCloud terms you accepted during feature enabling/activation. This is separated now in the new release.

Hi Tomas, Is the plan for the Rest API to replace SOAP?
t
REST API should be preferred option for the GA functionality, new technologies (e.g. SuiteQL) are available just in REST API. In case of using REST Record Service with Beta records it is very important to understand that beta contract can be changed anytime without prior warning (e.g. some field renamed, removed etc.).
c
What do you mean by "the GA functionality"?

@Tomas Novotny (NS REST API PM) Is there any timeline available on this? I setup a Salesforce GET callout from Salesforce to Netsuite using the REST Record Service that I am ready to deploy, but can't turn the REST Record Service on now in NS Prod so just wondering if I should look for different options or if this will likely be something resolved in the next few weeks? Greatly appreciate any input you have on this.
t
GA = generally available (not beta). We are planning to open it for new beta testers. There will be a recruitment link available on Enable Feature page soon.
t
@Tomas Novotny (NS REST API PM) thanks for the clarification and information on this. You mentioned you aren't accepting new Beta Testers, but that was temporary, do you know when you will allow new beta testers? I need these features enabled in sandbox so I can continue development using REST Web Services, otherwise I'm stuck. Any good information on what exactly we are signing up for when entering into these additional agreements?
t
Hi, recruitment link is available. You can use it for the beta features to be enabled for you, you will need to accept the beta terms.
t
Thanks @Tomas Novotny (NS REST API PM), appreciate the info and response. Would you be able to link this thread here or is the link you are referencing in the enable features section inside our Netsuite instance?
