I think I received a message like that when I was trying to edit a transaction record in a closed period, if I remember correctly.

JE is approved for posting and transaction posting period is not closed and i can add new item but can not update existing one
😭
a
walbin, have you been able to update the transaction as desired via the UI?
Kindly verify the field(s) to be updated is not a readonly field. This might be a challenge since fields may be readonly in specific contexts: (1) The field on a record may be accessible on a form and not accessible on another. (2) There are scripts or workflows running on the record that are setting the field to read only (Display type Hidden, Disabled or Inline Text). You can check by going to Setup > Customization > Scripted Records Setting the ignoreReadOnlyFields request-level parameter to false can help confirm if the field is readonly. If the field is readonly, a permission error is returned as users cannot update a readonly field through web services. Updating readonly field through web services returns error message similar to the one below:
Kindly verify that the preferred form of the Support Case record has access to the field to be updated. Please navigate to Customization > Forms > Select Form type > edit preferred form > Fields > Field to be updated is checked to show. If the field is set not to show on the record by customization/design, the web services update request would require selecting a form that has access to the field before an update to the field can be successful. Please see sample SOAP XML update request below:

Yes I am able to update line list items using UI.
I am getting the issue for line.line field, which is the id of line and I can not see any settings for this field to set it as read only, show, hide. However I am able to update lines for vendor bill by providing line id.
And also on the vendor bill form there is no setting for this field and still I am able to update line items for vendor bill using line id. Code and setting for both forms looks same for me.
And also I have disabled the running scripts and workflow and create new JE but still deal with the same issue.
I also set 'ignoreReadOnlyFields' set to true from API but struggling with the same issue.
a
dude, I really think you might be hitting that issue I first mentioned, in some web services calls, updates to lines are simply not allowed, you must remove the line and then add a new/corrected line

But I have applied same approach for vendor bill where it worked fine for me and update the line list items successfully.
Well thank you for concern.
