Hi Everyone Has anyone designed a deputy approval process on NetSuite? For example, when the approver takes a vacation his deputy can help to do approval of the system. Thanks!

Yep. I usually see this referred to as "delegates" in most other places/systems. I usually design these as an always-on kind of thing, with a process for them to review all the approvals their deputy/delegate did on a quarterly/annual basis, because people always forget to do whatever they need to do to actually delegate approvals and then you end up managing it manually anyway. Did you have a specific question about your delegate workflow design?

Hi @James Morris, Thanks for your reply. I know that NS does not have a delegates structure on WF, so I would like to customize the function. For example, employees can set the date period for whom can approve the pending approval transaction, and then in this period, the delegates will receive the notification mail to approve. I don’t know if you have designed a similar architecture before and can share your experience? TKS!

Like I said I usually don't do the date and time period thing. I've done it in the past but IME people often forget to set a delegate and then you're stuck manually managing it, getting approvals, and doing extra documentation for the auditors. Plus it does make it a bit more complicated design-wise. I like to just have them designate a permanent delegate and have them review any approvals done by their delegate on a regular basis. Lots of ways to do it though. All depends on your situation really. You probably know what's best for you and your org.

Haha, I also think that users will tell IT to set the delegate. We will discuss the delegate process on our org and design the process. TKS!
