Has anyone run into trouble which approver approves the journal entry but it’s still sitting as “pending approval”?

Likely an issue with your approval workflow

I.e. your transition(s) probably has/(have) some qualifiers on it - and whatever you're trying to approve doesn't meet any of the qualifiers

I guess i should be looking into the condition statements?

Check transition and check Approve state whether the value being set as approved or not.

It's basically, when use click button, must be transitioned to approved state to set value as approved.

thanks, I checked those areas and they look correct. But I do notice that I haven’t checked “journal entry” on approval routing in accounting preference. Would that be a factor too?

Yes.  Usually if you want to use an approval workflow, approval routing should be turned on
