Basically I'm trying to show a button on a workflow if the current user is on a multiselect list. So far it only works if the user is the only one the multi-select list.

How are checking the criteria? Look for a criteria of "Any Of" or "Contains" instead of "Equals". (subject to knowing how you are already doing it.)
