Will it be done automatically with a records or do i have to use After Field edit trigger for every field?

what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

In sales order records there is a field `Terms` .  some of the records don't have value filled in this field. i have create a workflow that will automatically fill the data in field when we create new record. but i don't know how to update all previous sales order records with this field.

ah ok - then yes create the workflow as you would normally and test it and make sure it works

then make sure all data in the other SO's is OK

then create a mass update (workflow) that will initiate the workflow on all of those records

then create a mass update (workflow) that will update the state of the workflow (if there are any) to whatever you want
