@Brian I think the issue you ran into with the address "field" not saving is because the address is actually a sub record and not a field. once you populate that field you have to commit it to save that record. think of it like the item sublist on a transaction. I think what you really need to do is create the sub customer record and on AFTER submit either via script or workflow create the address records that link to that sub customer.
