@NSG are you sure there's something actually in the field?

the workflow log says there is. but running that manually (browser console) says it's undefined. setting it beforeRecordLoad -- is that allowed (compatible)?

Hmmmm... I know you can't set field values beforeload on EXISTING records... not sure how it works with workflow fields to be honest
