Is there a convenient way to record customer payments from marketplaces?
For example, for Amazon, we receive a settlement report showing all the payments for a specific period for multiple invoices.
Should we create a bank clearing account for Amazon where the customer payments will be posted? Then, when we receive the settlement report and the fund is transferred to our bank account, we will create a JE to zero out the clearing account, recognize the increase in our bank account, and the difference goes to fees/charges?
Or should we use Undeposited Funds in the Customer Payments and use the Deposit transaction to transfer the individual customer payments to the actual bank account and use the Cash Back sublist for charges/fees?
The first one will require us to reconcile the paid invoices outside of NS which may be more practical because we can just run and export a saved search and do a VLOOKUP in Excel vs. the Amazon report.
Or is there a better way? The example above is where the charges/fee are at a lump sum amount. What if the fees/charges are invoice specific such as for Adyen? Do we create Customer Payments posting to the actual bank account and create CM for the fees/charges?
