Is there no way to back up custom objects from sandbox without SDF or copy to account or bundling. We can't use SDF because I'm not allowed to be an admin on my laptop and therefore cannot run commands on folders
g
I am not an admin on my laptop and use SDF everyday. Can you use SDF via VS Code and the SDF extension?
o
Using it VS code doesn't require command promoting? I'm trying to back up custom records and it's fields
g
In vs code you can just do an import objects, select from a list of which object type you are after, customrecord, then enter a scriptid if you are looking for a specific record. Then you just select it and it gets pulled down into your project folder. Never have to manually enter a command at all.
Why are you trying to back them up?

We are needing to refresh the sandbox so don't want to manually build everything out again. What is the process of using vs code to ouch it back into NetSuite all built out with the correct structure
g
Short version is you make a project, then you can pull down everything from NetSuite that you need into that project. This should all probably be in source control too like github. Not all values will pull down from NetSuite though, this is an example of a value set in a list/record field where it has ACCOUNT_SPECIFIC_VALUE so that would not be pushed back to NetSuite. You would have to do a saved search or similar to get the data back out so you could do a CSV import back in maybe. So if we import just the structure without the records they it is just a deploy back to NetSuite after your refresh.

My normal flow is make a project, do all the things in sandbox, then when ready just one deploy over to production and set script values or similar that are account sepecific. Super easy to pull stuff out of an account and move it to another or in your case pull it our and just deploy it back to the same.

Did you have to install node.js and jdk 17 also?
g
This goes through the whole flow of getting it installed to using it for the different tasks. docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/…/chapter_158400948906.html

Before SDF existed, I used to migrate to production very carefully. Keep everything inactive. Refresh. It’s not ideal and carries real risk and might not be an option if you have strict production, promotion policies But I’m with the others that have been commenting to you that you should be able to run SDF in VS code even if not an admin on your machine
