need a sanity check - if i want to send an email whenever an expense report is paid in full, i cannot do so via a saved search with the
SEND EMAIL ALERTS WHEN RECORDS ARE CREATED/UPDATED
box checked, because the "update" isn't taking place on the expense report itself - the status is being updated by another process

that's what i was thinking as a solution too
and further - the "create/update" aspect of this refers to the record's create event or an edit/update trigger to the record itself, correct? not, for example, that the "create" occurs whenever the record first "enters" the search results, regardless of how it gets there

Does it need to be in real-time? Would a scheduled workflow suffice?

@Tristan Day I think I am going with a scheduled workflow, yes. Here I'm mostly trying to gain an understanding / confirm how I think something works, not looking for workarounds, really.

gotcha, learning here too - would have thought that a status was updated on the expense report tbh (same as on an invoice / bill etc)
