Anyone else having issues with a saved search returning duplicate results, but only for some roles? Admin role returns single opportunity as expected, but sales roles are returning lots of duplicates.

Can you share your search setup? What you suggest is occurring is... unlikely
Are you sure it's role based and not user based?

I know I doesn't make any sense, but I have tried several roles and it is hit or miss. I am getting lots of complaints from our sales team because they have hundreds of opportunities in a list when it should be less than 50.

are you sure they are duplicates and not results that shouldn't show up?
I.e. maybe your search criteria is set to exclude results based on something that the user can't see - and so it returns those results incorrectly?

The criteria is pretty basic. It is an Opportunity Search

I'd also be inclined to set mainline true (granted - I don't know if mainline applies to opportunity search when not using transaction search instead)

No, that feature is not turned on.

Are any of your included fields a "multiselect" field?

Mainline was the first thing I tried, but it isn't available on opportunities.

I'd try removing fields 1 at a time to see if that changes results returned

No multiselect fields are being used in this search.
The strange part is this search was worked correctly for months. Then as the end of last week I started getting some complaints about it duplicates and it hasn't been edited. The only main difference would be our 2020.2 upgrade occurred at the end of last week.
I will see if removing fields one at a time will correct the issue.

Any chance you use multiple versions of opportunities? I.e. Best case/worst case/expected?
I'd try and figure out which duplicated lines are there and how they are different from the ones that don't duplicate.

I think I will try that approach. There are some that aren't being duplicated.
It appears that they have changed the search functionality on Opportunity transactions because it is related to the number of items on the item sublist. The problem is they didn't add in the ability to filter by mainline on the Opportunity.

There's got to be a way to filter out items.
Maybe say "item = none" or something like that?

I will see if I can get that to work.
It still ignores the item sublist when you search on an admin role. Very strange.

That is definitely strange - and probably worth filing a defect with NS Support

I heard back on my ticket and they said it was a known defect. Defect 600309 :  Custom Role > Customer record > Sales subtab > Opportunities > Saved Search Shows Duplicate Results
