The new AI Description fields on all customizations: Are these basically the same thing as the "description" value in an item in the JSON of the responseFormat parameter you can put in the llm.generateText() call, but is usable by Ask Oracle and MCP Tools? If that's true, then would it make sense to start out by copying all the normal Description fields into the AI Description field on every customization to start out, (assuming the descriptions are accurate), and then refine the AI Descriptions from there?

I can't answer your question in its original form, but what I can tell you is that AI description fields are there to expose and describe those records and fields to AI services. They help AI services find and understand those records and fields.
For example, cust_record_mrc_apntmnt might be a record type you use for customer appointments. Ask Oracle / Claude will not know this if you ask "customer appointment records" – but if you write an AI description that says what it is for and when to use it, it will
And yes, you can use the existing description field as a base, so long as it's good enough. I would use the "Optimize for AI" button we include, because it uses a template that we know will work well

Thanks!
Would populating the Ai Descriptions potentially lower the demands on various AIs that use NetSuite MCP, by making the steps needed to accomplish the prompt goals clearer and reducing the need for the AI to "ask around" in as many places/ways?

Yes
It will ask make the outcomes more deterministic
