are there any creative solutions to allow employee center users to view a list of items, to facilitate selecting the appropriate item to add to a purchase request?
c
this ones new to me...what are you running into? I used to configure vendor access to use a certain form which only had select items but your case is more open ended
I just logged into my account and noted I have no problems with EC and choosing items...do you need to do a restriction? perhaps a filter applied via saved search for the specific form?
a
@C_Billings not restrictions per se...really just want the EC users to be able to view a list of items and search by name, including certain columns
c
are you familiar with tying search result filters to specific forms? Meaning you can make certain forms only show some items?
a
i am, i tihnk
c
Look at your forms...there is a spot labeled FILTER...you assign an ITEM search there as a filter...whatever is in the search is available to users of the form
a
i'll take a look - i've used that before to limit the search results, but not to include multiple columns. if that is possible then it should be a good solution
c
Not sure about the search by column...sounds like you just want certain column views for this form which is back to basic customization...the search part I'm not understanding
a
the client wants employee center users to be able to look up info on items prior to adding them to purchase reqs, to verify that they know the correct item to add. since EC roles do not have item-level permissions, they cannot access a list / search of items, which would be ideal. the lookup feature on item sublists on the PR tran only includes static columns, so essential info like description doesn't display, meaning they would have to select an item to add to the PR in order to see additional info on the form itself, which to them is inefficient

Can we create a search with all respective fields and show it on EC. You can also try Suitelet link
a
yeah but it would have to be available without login @GV
i looked at it with @KevinJ of Kansas and we determined it wasn't really possible
