I literally went to a transaction search, used TYPE as the criteria and found Inbound Shipment to be an option

I dont think searching a list of PO's for inbound shipments is going to work...simply viewing the Inbound shipment record tells me the IS is the master while the PO is a child...each PO wont have any direct relationship to the IS
