I feel like I'm being gaslit over here. Or are we just the first customer to have recent customer maintenance and shift over to this Autonomous Database thing? Is really no one else seeing/hearing about a big performance degradation from their users?
Performance is degraded across the board. Here's some graphs of the Journal Entry page load time and saved search load times, where you can see the difference pretty starkly. Average server load time almost triples, and the standard deviation goes up by more than 18 times, meaning that there's a lot more times than before where it's taking waaaay longer than that average.

They probably fired some folks that care about you deeply.

What's the "Autonomous Database" thing?
j
@Tan Tuohy it does feel a bit right now like Oracle is giving the middle finger to ERP customers along with those folks they let go, and saying "none of you are important, only AI is".
@eblackey so when we were "notified" that this was happening it just looked like the standard maintenance thing:
but upon digging in with support after I showed them all those logs and complained for days on end of these issues, they finally admitted what was actually going on:

Root cause determination is still being conducted as this is something that cannot be determined overnight. What we know so far is that, the customer was moved to an Autonomous Database as part of our efforts to adopt the security, reliability, performance, and recoverability benefits of Oracle Autonomous Database and improve NetSuite's operational efficiency at scale.
j
It is essential to remember that anything is possible.
It CAN be determined overnight.
e
How exciting. ๐Ÿคจ
j
"overnight" being 4 days after I initially opened the investigation and 2 days after I escalated with our account manager ๐Ÿ™„

Curious if you ever had the opportunity to reschedule or if this was the first email you got on this? I always feel like it's a luck of the draw whether your account is the guinea pig for these type of maintenance events.
j
I mean it could have been rescheduled, like all scheduled maintenance, but we had no idea they were making a complete database change that according to support can't be rolled back. Literally zero mention of what they were doing, except that email about "routine" maintenance.
Those kind of routine scheduled changes have never given any of the accounts I've worked in issues in the 15 years I've been doing NetSuite stuff. Had to roll back a few silent hotfixes over the years, but always have been able to roll the version back while they fix the issue in a dire emergency.
e
Yep, same. Never had too many issues. But I'll keep an eye out for this and will probably reschedule. Thanks for the heads up.
j
Yeah, no problem, at least my suffering is helping others. ๐Ÿคฃ At the very least call in and ask them what they're doing before the maintenance happens. That will be my SOP moving forward for all scheduled maintenance.

@Alli Pearce Take a look at the above. Sounds like the same issue
