I accidentally started a process in production NetSuite, and wanted to know whether this tends to be problematic. The process is "Update Revenue Arrangements." I was looking in the Bulk Process Status list, drilled down to get more detail, and when I returned to the top level list, I found it had kicked off a new one in my name. I don't remember clicking any OK, Go, Submit, etc. kinds of buttons so I'm not sure how this happened. Maybe it interpreted my navigation as a submit? Anyway, does anyone know whether I should try to stop this from running and how to do so, or what steps to take to reverse its effects (if it's usually something to worry about)? I've already notified the people who would be affected, but they might not receive the notification until tomorrow. And I'll be making a mental note to be careful about navigating around these kinds of pages.

Usually in most accounts this process runs every 3 hrs or once per night. This manual process is usually used to manually trigger an off cycle update if it is needed more urgently (like during month end close)
Can you check under setup > accounting > accounting preferences
Is revenue arrangement update frequency set to manual?

I'll check - The history shows it running only once every five days or so, but it's not consistent, so I imagine it's manual.

Ok, if it is set to manual you may need to ask the account owner why they do it manually. In most cases it is set this way because they want to make sure all transactions are correctly entered before running the revenue arrangements. Worst case scenario here if there were "incorrect" transactions then you can always delete the revenue arragements, but that is a manual process to find and delete. My gut feeling is that they are not at this level of control with Rev Rec and that running the process is just something someone does kind of ad hoc because they know it needs to be run for the month end Rev Rec. To be honest in most accounts I've worked in they don't really have this level of understanding of the Revenue Arrangement process so this update you ran would have zero negative impact on their processes

It's set to Manual for the Rev Rec Arrangements and Rev Rec Plans. I'm told that it's not a big deal for the Rev Rec Arrangements, but if I had run the Rev Rec Plans create/update as well, then it would have been a catastrophe, though they person who told me that doesn't know themselves why - that's just what they were told :)
