We recently went live and we enter about 100-125 ordes a day. With that being said we are having issues with duplicate orders and the native duplicate warning is not working for us. Is there any other options to better accommodate duplicates?

what is causing the duplicates? multiple people doing manual entry?

yes. multiple users may start creating a sales order at once for different customer but when they all start creating it, the default order number seems to be the same for everyone until they save. Even though it catches the duplicate, and they select the option for the next available number that is taken as well.

Can they save the order with a bare minimum of info required to 'reserve' the order number and then edit it to fill in the time consuming parts? Edit: If you navigate to Setup > Company > auto-generated numbers and then select the document numbers tab you should be able to disable 'allow override' for sales orders. If you do this I'd expect that when people create orders the number is generated on save, not when clicking create. Test in sandbox first though 😉
