Those pesky machines don't fully understand the intricacies of Netsuite. Half the time claude/gpt gives me made up bs that do not align with reality. Granted I mainly use it for validating already known suspicions, and not hey bot write this script that does x,y,z.

It's pretty bold of someone to add scripts to NetSuite and not worry about the full implications and further business processes affected.

I wouldn't be surprised if smaller orgs/consultants were doing that to quickly bang through tickets.

I do use it (AI) a lot, but in a very targeted way: • Quick prototyping. • Validate or analyze a function. • Very specific and targeted things. • Ohh and to quickly find errors or usage of field across hundreds of files.

For the last one I use NFT records and just use a reference search for utilization. TypeScript solves a lot of those errors in field usage.

The last time I ask it to create a function to solve an issue it tried to load a record by external ID... I was done with it after that... lol.

Does the NS Dev community feel insulated from all of the current layoffs in Software Development? I'm a highly technical Admin who can read suitescript, write sql and html and have no problem using Cursor and Claude to generate code that works well. I don't think that at this moment there is a huge danger of end users being able to replace a dev but someone like me? It is so much faster and easier and cheaper to do it myself.

@Bryan Miller Software Development is being uses as very broad definition, there are many types of developers. • Person who can write code (also know as Code Monkey) • Software Engineer who can architect, design and build a solution. • Crazy fellow who code in Assembly. AI will definitely replace a lot of Junior Developers, and the world will go on building stuff with AI for 5 to 10 years. Then it will come a Software Engineering scarcity and a need to fix all those problems created by vibe coding without engineering foundations. And the scarcity was created by the same companies that decided that AI replaces Junior Devs etc...

No, the paradox is the idea from the story that in the future they lost the ability to debug their lower level infrastructure (too many layers of abstraction and loss of tribal technological knowledge) and had to send someone back in time to get a computer from the 80s so they could fix the technology in the future
