Hi all - how can we remove the "New" option in a custom list? If it matters, the custom list is in a custom field on a custom record. In a quick look at other fields on our custom records using lists, the New option is there. I don't see it on custom fields on standard objects. I thought there was a setting on the list or the field, but I don't see it.

I believe permissions for custom lists are global for all lists, so to remove their ability to add new options, you'd need to convert it to a custom record, and then assign permissions to the custom record type accordingly. (If you find another solution, please do share)

What are the ramifications of converting a custom list to a custom record? The only time I've done this was to create dynamic/dependent fields, where we already had a custom list that would no longer be used. It's weird that there are some list/record fields where the "New" button is not present. We may take our chances and tell users not to add additional values. HAHA which is likely an invitation to add away. 🙄
