is SuiteWorld still on?

my AM said they just started working on drafting guidelines about Covid-19 3 days ago....still haven't heard anything so I canceled
c
I wonder if they are just going to wait and see. Concur cancelled their event a couple days ago and their event was next week
j
Shopify cancelled their conference too and it was in Canada
l
See the thing is, Oracle would look horrible if folks come there and then get the Coronavirus.....and infect hundreds if not thousands of others

exactly!
I also just heard that Angular JS in Amsterdam cancelled their conference
what's Oracle waiting for?
l
I think they are just trapped in an arrangement. I had to cancel due to office policies of canceling travel.
so they will wait till the very last minute
n
I am guessing that Orcale has some wiggle room right now b/c the conference isn't for another 6/7 weeks. Can hold out a bit longer and see what happens.

smart move by your company @leo
even personal traveling. I cancelled bday travel for my son in April
l
based on trusted folks that I know (non-medical btw), the consensus seems that Covid-19 is going to be a season beginning next year like Flu and Cold. But, we are just woefully underprepared for it, so precautions are good!
j
While my team have booked our passes, we are holding off on flights/hotel till closer to the date, just in case.
I hope it's still on, had a good time the last couple of years.
j
that's serious @leo. Some time soon we'll be looking at a vaccine cure and like your friends say it will become a seasonal thing and there will be a COVID-19 shot
l
yeah and men are the most affected by this .... 9 years and younger are not affected. A good podcast to listen to is the "New York Times" podcast called the "The Daily" -- listen in particular to the episode of last Thursday, Feb 27, 2020. They had an expert on there and it is all objective and fact based. Doesn't cause any alarm. I discovered it through the Robinhood financial podcast.
s
every virus has a seasonal cycle, it is already slowing down, specifically in countries were they have good universal healthcare.

Someone reached out via email to event organizers, here is their response:
Here is their official word: β€œThank you for reaching out to us today. SuiteWorld is proceeding as planned and we are monitoring the situation daily. Netsuitesuiteworld.com will be updated in the coming days with additional information.”

Nth degree is managing the show and I got this message as a Vendor yesterday "SuiteWorld is proceeding as planned and we are monitoring the situation daily. Netsuitesuiteworld.com will be updated in the coming days with additional information." With SaaStr and SXSW still on, it's likely it'll happen.
m
It's likely to get canceled. But they will probably hold off as long as possible to see what information comes in. There's a TON of conflicting info, speculation, and publically-aired 'hunches', so every day there's more info, but also more noise.
j
that means "We already paid for the venue and catering and we can't lose those deposits!"

@JC -- exactly!! And on so many pages there is a note about if Oracle cancels, we will refund you in full. SO they are really weighing the cost.
j
of course they are! like every NetSuite product
