as far as 1099, there are lots and lots of benefits that come with some overhead. depending on your income and life situation, taxes and expenses can get complicated. if you’re the type to dig in it’s pretty straight forward to keep yourself out of trouble, but if you want to push the line re: home office, ‘business expenses’, retirement/investment options, and just in general minimize your tax burden, it can be really helpful to at least get advice from a ‘pro’. especially if you’re in a position you might be subcontracting work, want to protect yourself from some (specific) liability situations, etc.
