Any way to create custom entity types?  (kinda similar to custom transaction types)

You can always use custom records and park it in the entities lists

of course - all the extra stuff you'd have to do to make that work make it a nightmare

I've also seen people butcher Partner records if they aren't already in use to do stuff like that

what do you mean by “park it in the entities lists”?

we already have bastardised Partners for something else….

There's a standard record called Other Name that I believe is an entity type.

I've not played with it enough to know how much transactional functionality it works with, but might be worth checking out.

Yeah….we are already using that too, hah.
