Got a new NS rep - ugh! I ordered new licenses today, and always in the past we got a 65% discount. This new rep is refusing to add any kind of discount, so user cost per month for these licenses is $70/month/per user more! Outrageous. Anyone have tips on how to deal with this? I've been in the ring with Oracle before and it's not great.

Best time to negotiate is when you down for renewal. If you've over 100 users they know you can afford it.

We only have 38 users and aren't due for renewal until next year. Though they tried pushing us in to the new tier structure and we refused. Maybe being punished.

What is the transaction lines count per month? That is another factor.
I've also seen that when you've lot of integration they know you've no choice. All downstream system's charge you more when all is working well. It's way of life.

I've never seen them not add new users at the same rate as the existing one - but then again, I've only ever worked with clients who purchased through a partner.
that said - 65% seems very generous.

Yeah, it does, our original contract was discounted at 67%. This same thing happened at my last job, new rep = new rates. Nothing in the contract about discounts for user licenses so it really is just who the rep/manager is.

I mean, why work for your commission %? instead of just raising it on already stuck customers? *grumbles
