Dear Experts, Anyone here who has tried to convert a subsidiary into location (or change a locations' subsidiary to another)? Context: We have a store that is setup as a location, and also as its own subsidiary due to ownership. We will soon dissolve this and bring this store (location) to an already existing, larger subsidiary. Anyone who has done this sort of change before? Checking the location record, it appears that subsidiary cannot be changed anymore once a transaction has been posted to it. Should we then recreate the location to the other subsidiary? (we have inventory and multi-location inventory turned on) If that is the case, it seems that we should then migrate the inventory balance from old location to the recreated location. Appreciate your thoughts, thanks!

You need a new NetSuite Location and an Intercompany Transfer.

Thank you! interco transfer is interesting... is that better than doing inventory adjustment to writeoff old location and inventory worksheet to the new location? Though we use FIFO so this costing will be lost and will be averaged.

you are right to be thinking this through before doing the transactions. the transaction will come down to your required financial outcome. I was suggesting ICT as that will maintain your inventory history. Although your physical 'location' might be the same, financially you are transferring assets from one entity to another entity.
