Quick MRP question - anyone know how to make work orders only supply inventory at completion instead of progressively during lead time? It's messing up our component planning. Basically need components planned for start date but finished goods only available at end date. Is there a setting I'm missing or does NetSuite just not handle discrete manufacturing timing well?

Supply is automatically recognized as it is constructed, which is standard MRP behavior in NetSuite. Use WO completion rules (supply type = "Upon Completion") or modify item/WO settings if you want finished goods only when they are completed. Since NetSuite lacks discrete timing granularity by default, most people manage it with configuration and planning changes.

Thanks! this is exactly what I'd expect should be possible but nobody has been able to point me to where to make these updates. Where are these settings are located? I've looked through item records and preference pages but haven't been able to find them. I see that supply type is an option on the locations sublist which is where i would expect the changes i need to make are, but the only options are build and purchase
do i need to be using WIP to accomplish this?

I've never seen a setting having to do with supply type = upon completion. At the location level supply type is either build or purchase for assemblies. I think you have hit on it - you need to be using WIP to make this function correctly. What signals is it giving currently? Are the components showing up on the end date? What is your work Order lead time? Lot Sizing Method?
