Anyone know if I can disable some of the default tools that NetSuite provides with the MCP Server? ex: I don't want users to be able to update customers from Claude... even if they have permissions to in NetSuites UI
e
You can configure the settings in Claude. Go to the Custom Connection under Settings.
e
Yeah - I was hoping for a more global option on the NetSuite side so those tools wouldn't even show in Claude. Scenario: I have a user in accounting who DOES have permissions to edit Customer records in NetSuite.. but they are trying to just pull customer data in Claude... maybe the user makes a typo and says "set the customer data" instead of "get the customer data" and then Claude updates the customer record instead of pulling Customer data
r
Have you tried putting customers as view only in the role you give MCP access to?
e
I know that would solve the issue but our accountants need to be able to edit certain fields on Customer records so I can't change the permission. Permissions + Scripts allow them to update specific fields... but the native "Update Customer" tool immediately allows them to edit anything on a customer record
r
Maybe give them a different role just for mcp?
e
Another valid and 100% accurate solution! ...but we have SOX compliance requirements that only allow each user to have one role 😞 I'm thinking this is an "us" problem lol

You can install the sample tools from source instead of the SuiteApp and only install the ones you want.
e
@michoel Are you saying I can uninstall the SuiteApp and still use the custom tools I've built?
m
Yes the SuiteApp is just sample tools.

Nice! Just confirmed this - uninstalled the SuiteApp and still have access to all my custom tools. Thanks again @michoel
