Next question, how do you get a workflow to set a line level value?
m
Natively you can only set line level data on the items sublist of transactions with the items sublist
other sublists would require a custom workflow action or just a script
also expenses sublist on expense reports
g
I need expenses on vendor bill
m
oh unfortunately that is not possible with native workflow funcitonality
this would need to be a custom workflow action or a script
g
Same for PO I assume?
m
yes
Can you switch your organization to only use items and not expenses?
g
I guarantee the accountants are not going to go for that 😆

m
Yeah probably not. Just tell them the items are like "Expense Categories" so then they can have more control over who is coding expenses to what accounts instead of just blindly posting against the GL....LOL
g
Looks like it's not possible to put the custom segment column on the expenses sublist anyway
I can put it on items, but it doesn't show up on expenses no matter what I do.
i figured it out. The key was to turn off GL Impact
Nope, I didn't figure it out. I've got my new segment identical to the other one in every setting, AND there are other ones that show up and DO have GL Impact checked, but still my new segment does not show up in the expenses sublist. I am so confused...
m
You can add to expenses Sublist
Just customize the form and enable the field
