What's the most scripts/workflows ya'll have seen on a record? I think I ran into a new record for me at 75 scripts on a sales order.

I feel sorry for that customer.

It's crazzzzyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slow to save (if it wasn't obvious). On a shared tier plan too so not even a dedicated.

let me guess: they went through SuiteSuccess? I had to implement some of those projects and you're supposed (or were; this was 5+ years ago) to install like 25 bundles, whether you think the customer will need them or not. The old Contract Renewals bundle (does that still exist?) especially installed a ton of poorly performing scripts that dragged down the performance of basically everything in your account.

58 scripts and 24 workflows is the worst I could find. Its so bad in their account that they have decided to just reimplement from scratch

I have no idea who did the initial stuff. They basically create a new script/workflow for everything instead of just utilizing logic in a single script or workflow

I blame the convoluted processes businesses have, they don't streamline/optimize the processes to fit the system. Some consultant just listens to the customer and mimic their existing processes into system (more billing) without doing a process analysis.

You will be surprised by the stuff I have seen... and the worst part is we reached a point somehow where nobody is liable by bad or broken code anymore.

blame it on the AI!

But even before AI, company X develops a commercial paid bundle, somehow the bundle is broken and does not allow record X to be transform into record Y, now Company A must chase Company X for a fix which most of the time is a very time consuming and tedious process which could take weeks of not months, and somehow Company X is not liable and nothing happens…

Company X has already been acquired by Company Y

My favorite was finding where some Dev had recreated in a script what NetSuite did natively

The reality is that internal IT departments exist to create customizations. If you create a customization every time someone opens a ticket you get the unhinged mess we know and love.

@reptar you are 1000% correct when business/stakeholders/users gives you the solution by opening those ticket without doing any feasibility or complexity analysis. In the end it becomes a jumbled mess of twine and the perfect scapegoat is the IT folks. That was one of the factors why I just quit my job last week. No more of this crap, will devote my time to my own consulting.
