recent email announcement from NS titled '*SuiteCommerce Developer Tools Require Token-Based Authentication' - which basically says you have to patch SCA/SC and use 2FA starting in 2021.1 -* does anyone know if that applies to Site Builder extensions like Kilimanjaro?
s
All tools, all versions
f
Thanks Steve. it'd be nice to have the docs here updated so it says it includes the SB extensions:
s
Do you think so? It does say, "With the release of NetSuite 2021.1, all versions of the developer tools, including the extension, theme, and SuiteCommerce Advanced command-line developer tools, require token-based authentication." I would think "all versions" covers it?
This is a genuine question, btw! Did you read that and think "hmm, does this include Site Builder extensions Kilimanjaro?" or did you skip over that bit and just read the side panel?
f
yes, I saw the extension part, but was confused by the 'applies to' box
the SB extensions are rarely mentioned in SCA docs, so it's often hard to tell what applies to them
s
Alright, thanks!
f
Is there any chance of NS releasing a new Kilimanjaro SB extension bundle with the patches installed, for new implementations?
s
I think the chance of that happening is very close to 0. Sorry.

Does this patch have a 2020.2.1 dependency?
s
@Kearobi I don't know what you mean. Your question suggests you haven't read the PFCN or documentation yet?
k
@Steve Goldberg, we’re going to attempt the patch soon. Word of mouth is the patch is not playing nice with extension/theme dev tools 2020.2. I am Looking for confirmation.. regardless what the docs say.
s
OK, your use of "2020.2.1 dependency" threw me off. The point of the patches is to make old versions of the developer tools compatible with the new version of NetSuite. I haven't gone through the process myself yet but this should be testable on a RP/sandbox version of NetSuite that has been updated before your production account?

Maybe I read it wrong, but doesn’t it say that you have to update to the latest tools as part of the process? And the real catch….is there a deadline? Shouldn’t we wait for the 2021.1 release of the tools?
s
Here is my understanding: if you are using extension and theme developer tools, you should update them to the latest version. If you have a Denali site, for example, then you should continue using the Denali tools but patch them to support TBA. As for a deadline... I'm not sure I would call it that? If your account is upgraded to 21.1 and you don't use the new tools or patch your old ones, your site will still work but you just won't be able to push or pull code?
