We need to track how long are people taking Picking, Packing and Shipping an Item Fulfillment. • Is any of you aditing these steps? Thank you
t
What WMS do you use?
m
i think you can store Picked Date, Packed Date, Shipped date as separate fields on the IF
then you can make reports showing the difffeences
m
We are not using WMS for that right now. I might need to create Start and End Dates and Times for each step. I was just wondering if anybody else already solved that issue and which approached was taken.
t
I mean I would just pull the time stamp on the system information
Or if a date is appropriate @MGBC’s solution is great
m
I can't remember if the picke date, packed date is a date time, or just date
t
Just date
m
oh yes...then system notes is much better
Great idea @Tim Chapman

That's a good idea. I will look into it.

Rather than "timing" the steps, my company counts the number of lines picked in a time period / shift. I guess it really depends on what the goal is of your metrics, but in our case we wanted to gage what was reasonable / possible as daily work item throughput. It also helps create friendly competition and urgency among the team (while keeping it fair). Our orders have a wide range when it comes to the number of lines picked / packed, so measuring that number of lines at the picker level helps incent them to find efficiencies, or not "cherry pick" the easy 1 and 2 line item orders. Picking a larger order with 20 or 30 line items helps boost their personal numbers. Anyways, just some insight in case it helps. The time stamps on System Notes would certainly give you much more granularity to work with. Best of luck!

That's exactly what I suggested, but we have new manager who wants time this process as well. For now, I am just exploring what can be done out of the box. Thank a lot for sharing.
