Has anybody here been able to use "Automatic" SSL at all? And what about in Sandbox?
s
I've got it to work on my TSTDRV account
m
I tried on SB without any luck
s
I don't use SB so can't comment on that
p
Did it just work or did you have to play around a bit?
i created the domain and went all in with "Single Domain for Web Store and Checkout". now i'm wondering if perhaps it would have been better to do one tiny step at a time.
s
Both times I've done it, I've entered the domain wrong twice (my mistake). And both times I've had to wait for deployment and DNS propagation
p
was the wait > 1hr?
s
yes
I'm doing one now
I wouldn't be worried by it showing *X*s for DNS/certificate while deployment still has an i

Just double check the record settings with the CNAME in your hosting provider
Right, I'd give it some more time
p
ok good to know, thanks Steve for having the patience (which i don't seem to have, lol)
s
my life rn
ha after a refresh it now says DNS is good. so yeah just wait. have a mate 🧉
p
Mine now says this
After a full liter of Mate, lol
but it's not working yet (which i wasn't expect it to, it says in progress... )
s
yeah give it more time. I can't say how long for, though; for that you might to check your tea leaves 🔮
p
Or other uruguayan-legal leaves

Over the weekend, we had enabled “Automatic SSL” for a 2019.2 SCA website. We were able to access the website while the SSL was being deployed. The whole process was painless and took about an hour.

However I cannot enable the “Automatic SSL” for any TSTDRV accounts. Get the following warning. Record Not Saved Unable to deploy secure domain, because the provisioned amount would be exceeded.

My sandbox one just finished! It took 2 hs but it's live now.

I'm late here, but yes, I used on several accounts and took around 2 hours to be fully deployed
👍🏽 1
sometimes, deployment status is still in progress, but site starts to work
p
My friend! You're 2 hs late, exactly the same time the cert took to finally deploy. LOL.
s
@Christopher Dembek You probably don't have enough secure site licences provisioned to your test drive account
g
@PabloZ how are you dude? Well now you have another confirmation what's the average time for (I'd say) all sandbox (and I guess same in production)
🙂 1
@Christopher Dembek as Steven said, that's the problem, you can contact to your CAP representative and ask for Secure Customer Domain licences
c
So is there a downside to using the “Automatic” SSL option? Just asking…
s
It uses Let's Encrypt and provides domain validation only. Many customers want the added umph of organisation or extended validation, or want to use a well-known CA
p
In the case you're migrating websites (let's say from your legacy external commerce platform), using automatic doesn't seem to be optimal because of downtime. That at least if it's a requirement to have the domain properly configured at the DNS level before NS is able to set the cert part up (which i got the impression from a few chats but did not confirm myself).
It rocks for development, though!!!
s
Yeah it finally provided me with the impetus to test out SMTs in My Account 😛
p
The only thing missing for a top notch dev experience is to just have something like https://{{subdomain-key}}.{{siteId}}.{{accountId}}.netsuite.com
s
I think you'll have to drink many more litres of mate before that happens 🙂
p
sitebuilder had something extremely similar for checkouts 😄
