Inviting existing customers to our SCA store is still a chore, and we're plagued with customers who sign up separately from "give access" and wind up with multiple customer records that then require merging. We'd like to give access and set passwords for every customer that doesn't already have one set, which will prevent the duplicate records through the "WEB SITE DUPLICATE EMAIL MANAGEMENT" setting. Has anyone else gone down this path?
For example: customer has ordered over the phone with us in the past and has established history. They sign up on their own on the web store, and get a duplicate customer record and can't see their order history until the customers are merged. It would be nice to prevent that and force a password reset instead, granting them access to their order history.
