Did you change the role in your .nsdeploy?

as soon as i select my role - it gives me an error

It is entirely possible that because your user also has an admin role it is defaulting to that and therefore throwing a 2FA error. I would suggest creating a new user and assigning that your deployer role

2FA error is different, you probably didn't setup the role properly or didn't assign to your user

i removed admin from me and set the role up exactly like from suiteanswers

You could create a new user, assign only the SCA deployment to it and try, if it doesn't work double check the permissions

make sure to assign your user or role to the deployment script - I think it's a suitelet

My user has admin role in Prod and SCA dev role in SB

but I am still getting insufficient permissions

the deployment shouldn't be locked, only the script... you should be able to edit the permissions on it

are you using the sca dev role when deploying? might want to file a case with support
