Just curious to know if this functionality is out-of-the-box and if the behavior can be changed.

10/07/2019, 12:09 PMJust discovered a field in the General Preferences ' Show Individuals as Contacts '. Perhaps, this is how we can manage the said behavior.

10/07/2019, 1:58 PMYes, with that Checkbox you can manage if Contacts are created or not every time a new Lead is created.
