When dealing with Sales Order Discounts and ARM, how do people normally handle non-posting Discount Line Items where the last line is the only affected? How do you balance that revenue recognition that will look like that Item revenue is affected when in reality the discount is for the entire order?
m
Can you use the header level Discount item. Then the discount would apply evenly across the entire order
a
Not doable when multiple discounts must be applied to the same order or if the Discount must be based upon a different MSRP or price level different than the one on each line.
m
use a subtotal line to group lines together
So if line 1, 2, 3 of a sales order get 1 discount and lines 4,5,6 get a different discount, then add a subtotal after line 1,2,3 then the discount, then another subtotal after lines 4,5,6 and the second discount
a
Subtotal lines are not compatible with ARM, can’t even be added to Sales Orders when using ARM
m
i just did it
The revenue arrangement allocated the discount across the 2 lines above the subtotal but ignored the subtotal line altogether
the line under the subtotal was unaffected by the discount

here's the revenue arrangement

Something must be off in this user account because I can’t even select or find subtotal items when I edit a Sales Order in the UI. If I click on the Item plus sign it take me to the new item creation list where Subtotal Items are not even there to be created.
Would you mind to try that but with Service Items for Sale ?
m
i just tested the same in 2 more accounts and got the same result
All of the items are Service for sale

Thank you, I need to check what the problem may be, I’m able to create Items of type Subtotal but unable to add them to a Sales Order, very weird to me.
m
As a side note I just used the original Subtotal item that came with the netsuite account, not one that I made
Not sure if that makes a difference
Or maybe there is an item filter on your custom form?
a
Good idea, I will check that…
@MGBC Is was a filter at the form level, thanks for your testing and help.
