I'm having a problem getting categories to associate with my items. For example, I have a hammer. Its primary category would be "TOOL" then "Non-Powered, then "Hand Tool. Right now these are just custom fields on the item record, but I can't get these to map properly through Celigo into Shopify. It looks like if I have website categories associated with each item, those will map to Shopify collections, however, I can't figure out the import method to CSV these all into Netsuite. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

@timmcglinn Without the use of custom scripts, Shopify allows you to categorize your products in two different ways: 1. Product Type 2. Collections
Unfortunately at this time, Shopify doesn’t permit a hierarchical categorization the way you’ve described it, unless you script off tags/product type/collections
Our free Data Loader can be used to load data into applications, including NetSuite. You could concatenate the fields using that tool and load it up to your ‘website categories’

Hope that helps! Otherwise, please I’m sure your project team would be happy to assist further.

@matt.graney Well my project team consists of me. I had the idea of using parent/child/step-child collections and it looked like the website categories would allow me to map those to collections. I've got about 1.5million items and would really like to have them at least moderately grouped together.

I meant your Celigo team (like Ryan H.) 😉 And yes, with so many items, I can understand the desire to have them grouped!

Oh yeah, I do have my Celigo PM. He's reaching out around to see the best way to accomplish this, but we've struck out thus far. We have around 10k unique category combinations so we are also trying to figure out if Shopify can handle that many collections
Don't tell him I forgot about him for a minute there!

lol!
I had let Ryan know of this convo so he may figure out that you forgot about him 😉
