If you check this box, in View mode, child records still display in alphabetical order. In Edit mode, child records initially display in the order in which they were entered...

the fact that you're checking

but they still display alphabetically in View mode is baffling to me. Does anyone know a way to enforce them showing in the ordered way in View mode?

It’s impossible. It’s not even in alphabetical order, it’s in order of whatever column you last sorted by in that view.

the extra fun thing is that you cannot even get the order via SuiteQL

so is the order just not exposed at all to tools, even though it's obviously saving it?

the only way I’ve been able to get it is to do a record.load (or have the record in edit mode in UI)
