Hi everyone... I have users which role have the permission to “Override Period Restrictions”, yet they receive this error: This transaction is in a period that has been closed. You may not edit it. Do I need to grant them any other permission?
m
@Edgar Valdés The period is CLOSED, you will not be able to post to it unless you open the period. Not even an admin can post to a closed period.

According to the docs: "*Users with the Override Period Restrictions permission can add and edit posting transactions even if the transaction type has been locked for a period*. To allow other users to add or edit posting transactions, transactions must be unlocked for the period... No one can make general ledger impacting changes to posting transactions in a closed period. The period must be reopened before these changes can be posted." I don't get the difference here 🤔

So Locked and Closed periods are 2 different things. During the month end process, AR and AP are locked first, this prevents users from transactions such as invoices and bills to that period. But with the permission that you stated above, users in this role can change non GL impacting fields like description or whatever. Once the ME process is complete, the period is finally closed. Then, nothing can be done in those periods, unless reopened.
