Is it possible for a 2.0 script to call a plugin which is written in 2.1, or vice-versa?

Sometimes there is an issue when a 2.0 script calls a 2.1 script. As 2.1 is backwards compatible best to just update scripts to 2.1 across the board. But 2.1 calling a 2.0 script is fine.
