We will be manufacturing equipment that will be later on converted to fixed asset. We have the NetAsset module which can convert the final assembly item to a fixed asset record. The issue is that we, ideally, need to create multiple fixed asset records from one production batch. And the fixed assets are the finished product itself (minus the major components) and the major components. The reason for having multiple fixed assets from the one unit of an equipment is because some of the components are replaceable, significant in value and depreciates differently from the equipment itself as a whole. If I follow the normal NetAsset inventory to fixed asset conversion, then I can create one fixed asset record only from the finished product itself (via Inventory Adjustment). So do I go through the normal process of: 1. Create WO. 2. Record WO Issue. Track the cost of the major components that need to be created as separate fixed assets. 3. Record WO Completion. 4. Record WO Close. 5. Create IA to remove the final product from stock. 6. Manually create the fixed asset records. Component A with cost based on WO Issue and Equipment with cost equal to the total assembly cost less Component A cost. Make Component A a child asset of Equipment, so they're still linked. Or is there any other or better way?
