Not a work orders expert, so I'm not sure if this will work for that field, but you could try a Mass Update for the close option. Or take a look at TechFino's Mass Deletion script to be able to delete them. It's bundle 251157. It's free.

Yup that's definitely an option too. There's a variety of ways. I like the TechFino option because it's already all built for me

I like this simple script that uses a Mass Update to delete records. On the Criteria of the Mass Update you can filter by Transaction Type, Date, Doc Number(s), etc. Also, when it runs you can view the progress for how many records were processed/failed.
