16 years of sprint retrospectives and I'm still hearing the same things now as I did then. What's the point? Here's an idea for the scrum masters, just chill the F out, we don't need to try and improve things every two weeks indefinitely, it's tiring.

not to evangelize that process in anyway, but if the scrum masters are driving the retro/improvements then they are doing it wrong, its the devs that should be saying what THEY need to make the process smoother, (i.e. less process please) no one should care what the scrum master wants, they're NOT anyone's boss, they're the project janitor.

I don't think retrospectives are inherently bad, but most Retrospectives(tm) are.

The ones we were in together, Anthony? Brutal.

On this client the SM is the facilitator - the team clearly don’t want this session every 2 weeks though; this aligns with 16 years of observations from me.
I don’t blame them either, after a year of struggling to think what to say some have just given up. It’s perfectly ok to have a good sprint and not want to pontificate over it.

Agile's great in principle.

yeah original agile seems cool...I've never had an org that did anything like that though, it seems like no one knows that is anymore, and instead we have a bunch of nonsense.

We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it.

Through this work we have come to value:

Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
    Working software over comprehensive documentation
    Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on
the right, we value the items on the left more.
